Who deserves a Ballon d’Or between Jorginho and Kante?

Former Chelsea football star, Ruud Gullit, has picked the Blues midfielder and France international, N’Golo Kante, ahead of his Italian colleague, Jorginho, as favourite to win the Ballon d’ Or this year.

Gullit made this public ahead of the West London side Premier League clash with Manchester City this weekend.

Recall that Kante and Jorginho won the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup with Chelsea this year.

However, Gullit is of the opinion that Kante deserves to win the Ballon d’Or at the end of the year instead of Jorginho, who was named UEFA best player of the year recently.

“It’s a bit like Baresi, who didn’t win despite his level,” said Gullit via Tutto Mercato Web.

“Those who score attract more and more attention.

“It would be nice to see someone who attracts less attention for goals, like Kante, who deserves to win.”

No one was handed the Ballon d’ Or in 2020 due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, for this year, Kante and Jorginho will have to battle it out with Paris Saint-Germain PSG star, Lionel Messi, Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski to win the Ballon d’ Or.
