Werner advises German colleague to leave Stamford Bridge
Former Chelsea star Timo Werner has sent a message to his countryman Kai Havertz advising him it was time to leave Stamford Bridge.
It is no longer news that Havertz has been linked with moves away from Chelsea this summer as the Blues plan to trim down their squad under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Real Madrid are said to be leading the race to sign the Blues forward, who they considered a worthy replacement for Karim Benzema, followed by Arsenal
While on international duty with Germany, Werner suggested it would be better for Havertz to move to a club where he can play in European competition next season.
“Kai [Havertz] always got his minutes, no matter how things went at Chelsea,” Werner explained.
“It was a bit chaotic there in my time. But the team will move back to where Chelsea belong in the next few years.
“A move to another club where you might play internationally [in Europe] is better, of course, because you want to play [in the] Champions League every year.”
