Former Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has heaped praise on Chelsea youngster, Billy Gilmour ahead of Scotland clash with England.

Scotland began their Euro 2020 adventure with a defeat to the Czech Republic and in order to keep their hopes of progressing to the last 16 alive, they have to get a positive result against England.

Billy Gilmour was an unused substitution in that match against the Czech Republic but Jose Mourinho believes he deserves to start against England.

Mourinho believes Scotland missed Gilmour passing ability and creativity and feels he can have a similar impact to Barcelona youngster Pedri has for Spain in their opening match.

Mourinho in his pre-match column for The Sun stated that Scotland are a team with a good mentality but without real talent, especially in attack.

The Portuguese stated that he was surprised with Scotland against the Czechs in the way they struggled to build their game noting that the quality wasn’t high.

On the way forward for Scotland, Mourinho insisted that he saw how difficult it was for Scotland to play from the back and to reach the midfield so he would ask if Billy Gilmour can’t give them more possession.

He urged the coach to give the youngster a chance in the starting lineup just like Pedro was preferred to Liverpool’s Thiago Alcantara and made 105 passes against Sweden.
