UCL: Joe Cole blames Italian midfielder for Chelsea’s defeat

Former football star Joe Cole has blamed Chelsea midfielder Jorginho for their 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the UCL.

Recall that the Blues hosted Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

Cole stressed that Jorginho was not athletic in the encounter to close spaces in the midfield against the Los Blancos that saw Karim Benzema score three goals to seal a win for the visiting side.

The former football star also advised manager Thomas Tuchel to take lessons from the match against Real Madrid ahead of the return leg.

“You have got Jorginho in there. There were spaces in midfield, so you had two players, Jorginho is not athletic. Kante who had a problem,” Cole said on BT Sport.

“In the first half, Chelsea was having such a problem getting close to them, so just as much as we can praise Real Madrid for their performance, and tactically they were good. Chelsea was off it for their reasons. They need to take the second half into the Bernabeu.”
