UCL: How Chelsea will lineup vs Malmo

Published

on

Chelsea will return to action tonight in the Uefa Champions League as they host Malmo at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues will be heading to the match after their recent 1-0 win against Brentford in the Premier League last season.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is expected to make some changes to his squad when they face Malmo.

The West London side are currently at the second spot in Group H after they suffered a narrow defeat to Juventus in their second UCL game.

The German manager is expected to continue his rotation pattern amid the hectic schedule of national and continental football.

Tuchel also has more of his key players at his disposal against Malmo than when he played Brentford.

Brazil international and the Blues defender Thiago Silva is expected to play tonight after he arrived late from international duty and couldn’t play on Saturday evening.

German defender Antonio Rudiger will not be available for the match as he is still battling a back injury; this means Silva will partner with Andreas Christensen and Malang Sarr at the back.

Ben Chilwell, who gave the Blues their lone goal vs Brentford, is likely to be rested while Marcos Alonso will return.

American winger Christian Pulisic has been ruled out with an ankle injury and Hakim Ziyech is a doubt through illness; this means Chelsea will have to play Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner as the front two, who would be supported by Mason Mount in an attacking midfield role.

Jorginho will play alongside Kante at the midfield.

Chelsea possible starting lineup: Mendy; Christensen, Silva, Sarr; Azpilicueta, Kante, Mount, Jorginho, Alonso; Lukaku, Werner
