UCL: Chilwell reveals why Chelsea lost to Juve
After the Blues second defeat of the season to Italian club Juventus in the Uefa Champions League tournament on Wednesday, Ben Chilwell has revealed why they lost.
Recall that the Old Ladies won the match with a 1-0 scoreline as Chelsea were unable to produce more than a shot on target as Romelu Lukaku and Kai Havertz struggled to find the target in Italy.
Federico Chiesa gave Juventus the lone goal, which was enough for Massimiliano Allegri’s men the victory over the Premier League giants.
Reacting to the match via Chelsea’s official website, Chilwell said Juventus defeated Chelsea because the Italian side had a game plan and executed it very well against Thomas Tuchel’s men.
“They had a game plan and executed it very well. They grew in confidence, the crowd got behind them and it got more difficult for us to score. We did have a few chances but not enough clear-cut ones to win the game.
He noted that Chelsea had a lot of possession but weren’t at their best as they stayed in the game until the very last minute to get at least a draw, but it never came.
Chelsea will return to action in the EPL this weekend when they face Southampton.
