Two Chelsea players to be blamed for defeat to Newcastle United revealed
Former Manchester United and Bayern Munich midfielder, Owen Hargreaves has named two Chelsea players Kalidou Koulibaly and Lewis Hall to be blamed for the Blues’ defeat to Newcastle United.
Hargreaves questioned Koulibaly and Hall for their roles in the Magpies’ winning goal at St. James Park on Saturday.
Joe Willock’s second-half goal was all Newcastle United needed to win all three points against the Blues.
A highlight from the match showed how Miguel Almiron surged in from the left between Hall and Koulibaly before Willock found an opportunity to hit the ball pass Edouard Mendy.
The Magpies’ recent win has taken them to the 3rd spot on the EPL table while Chelsea are now seated at the 8th spot as they struggle to make it back to the top four.
Hargreaves in his analysis of the match said Hall, who made his debut for Chelsea, was guilty of ‘ball watching.’
The youngster looked on as Paraguayan Almiron broke in behind him and Koulibaly.
“Almiron gets a run on Hall, he’s just ball watching,” Hargreaves said on Premier League Productions.
“You just think, Koulibaly, you got to know your player. Don’t let him inside on his left foot. Make him go to the right,” he added.
