Tuchel was closed to returning to the EPL

Former Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, was said to have snubbed a return to the Premier League as he opted to join German club Bayern Munich.

Tuchel was close to returning to the Premier League before he took up a coaching job at Bayern Munich, Kicker reports.

The former Chelsea manager was said to have been in talks with Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Bayern Munich beat Tottenham to get the German tactician and he has now been unveiled as Julian Nagelsmann’s replacement.

Bayern Munich are one point off the top of the Bundesliga table.

They also remain in the Champions League where they will also play Manchester City in the quarter-finals.

Current Spurs manager Antonio Conte is likely to be sacked soon following his recent outburst, with the Italian being unpopular with many of the club’s senior players.
