Tuchel speaks on Chelsea’s chances of finishing in the top four

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has spoken of the Blues chances of finishing in the top four this season.

According to Tuchel, anything can still happen but he stressed that the Blues can finish in the top four.

Chelsea are currently at the third spot with five points ahead of Arsenal and Tottenham.

The Blues failed to increase the points after they suffered defeats to Brentford last weekend in a 4-1 scoreline.

A repeat of such defeat to Southampton this weekend could see Arsenal and the Hotspurs close in on them.

Tuchel in a statement while speaking on the Blues chances of finishing in the top four said, “Absolutely confident but not as a given. I never thought of it as a given.

“Because this is the most demanding league in the world and we know how we struggled through the season and what can make us struggle.

“We can play on a very, very high level.

“If we reach our top level and we do this very often, which is our job. But if we don’t reach it, we can also lose to any teams of any quality and unfortunately, we proved it in five days.

“So, this is us, and this is nothing bad. It’s just a reminder that we should not feel ashamed to fight for third place. There is no disappointment.

“Do I feel confident? Yes, because I have trust in my players and the club and in myself and my staff. But do we feel that this is a given? No, absolutely not but it never felt like this.”
