Chelsea may have suffered a transfer blow as DailyMail reports that their attempt to sign Julio Enciso from Brighton is set to collapse.

Reports had previously disclosed that Enciso was close to joining Strasbourg for this season, before transferring to Chelsea next year.

A fee around £13.8million was agreed between the Blues and Brighton for the 21-year-old midfielder.

However, Encisco reportedly failed a medical, leaving the transfer in doubt.

Neither the Sea Gulls nor the Blues have made any public comments on the speculation.

Recall that the midfielder signed to Brighton from Libertad in 2022 and has made 57 appearances, scoring five goals and creating six assists.

However, his time at Brighton has been married by fitness issues.

The Paraguay star suffered a torn meniscus in August 2023 and the injury kept him on the sideline for six months. He also had knee trouble, which required surgery in May and is expected to be out of the team for several more weeks.

Considering his incessant injuries and lack of fitness, it would be in Chelsea’s best interest to focus on other players they can sign before the summer transfer window deadline which is only a few days away.
