Transfer blow for Arsenal as RB Leipzig star decides on joining Chelsea

Chelsea have been handed a transfer boost in the ongoing summer transfer window as their their target Xavi Simons has decided on his future.

This comes after the Blues advanced their interest in Simons ahead of Arsenal who were also interested in signing him this summer transfer window.

Simons is among the players Chelsea want to include in their attack after summer arrivals Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

In the last campaign, the 22-year-old scored eight goals and created 11 assists for RB Leipzig.

His performance has seen him attract interest from the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and other top European clubs.

However, a report by Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph disclosed that the west London club have targeted Simons as a ‘realistic option.’

It was also reported that an initial agreement have been reached with the player’s camp and the Dutchman would be open to a transfer to Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will have to part ways with some of their attacking players to create space for Simons’ arrival.

Joao Felix is expected to leave Chelsea this summer, with Benfica interested in signing him, while Christopher Nkunku is also expected to exit Stamford Bridge.
