Thomas Tuchel reveals youngster future at Stamford Bridge after an impressive pre-season
Chelsea have become popular for giving young players in their academy a taste of first team football during pre-season before they end up at other club on loan.
This season has not been different with youngsters given a chance to prove themselves in the squad ahead of a new season.
However, one youngster that has caught the eye of Thomas Tuchel is Trevoh Chalobah who seems to have earned himself a potential first-team promotion with his impressive performances in pre-season.
Chalobah made the starting line-up in the UEFA Super Cup win over Villarreal on Wednesday and that was his third consecutive start in the pre-season so far under Tuchel.
Tuchel has now revealed that the youngster might be considered for a place in the first team rather than been shipped out on loan.
Speaking to press after the victory against Villarreal Tuchel was asked if Chalobah will be given a chance and he stayed that absolutely
According to Tuchel that’s why Chalobah played against Villarreal.
Tuchel noted that the youngster played well against Bournemouth, Arsenal, and then Tottenham. He added that against Villarreal, Chalobah was very strong.
The German tactician insisted that Chalobah has forced his way into his thinking, and it’s left to see where he goes, noting that he have some days to decide his personal future.
If Chalobah ends up staying at Chelsea he will have to fight for a spot with the likes of Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva and Andreas Christensen, Rudiger, Kurt Zouma and Recce James.
