This Juventus defender backs Jorginho to win Ballon d’Or ahead of Messi

Juventus defender and Italy international Giorgio Chiellini has supported his fellow compatriot Jorginho to win the Ballon d’Or.

Chiellini made this known ahead of Juventus clash with Chelsea in the Uefa Champions League.

The Juve defender applauded Jorginho, who won both the Champions League and Euro 2020 trophies this year.

It is well known that the Italian midfielder, alongside N’golo Kante, is one of the favourites to win the Ballon D’Or along with the Argentine star Lionel Messi.

But Chiellini told a press conference: “I hope he will be able to win; he is a good friend of mine. It’s an award that would feel like it was mine.

“He was involved in a win and emotions that will always be in our hearts.

“I’ve always thought he was a good player but after the first few training sessions, I realised how good he is, what a top player he is.”
