This Chelsea loanee ready to return to Stamford Bridge
Chelsea have been handed a boost in the ongoing January transfer window as their loanee player Emerson Palmieri has reportedly changed his stance on a potential return to England.
This comes after earlier reports claimed that Emerson would prefer to remain at Lyon stay despite Thomas Tuchel’s demand.
Chelsea are currently weak at Left-back as the only option they have at that end is Marcos Alonso.
Ben Chilwell was another option in a fine run of form until he suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament against Juventus before Christmas and has been out of the squad till then.
Chilwell is not expected back at Chelsea until the end of the season.
With this, Chelsea have been in the race for a backup, they were once linked with Everton defender Lucas Digne, but an initial interest was not pursued any further as other more short-term options were preferred.
One of those options is for the Blues to recall Emerson Palmieri from his current loan spell with Lyon in the French league.
football.london understands that Chelsea have had a compensation offer in the region of £3 million rejected by the Ligue 1 side.
However, a new report claimed Emerson has told Lyon to let him return to his parent club.
This is according to French outlet RMC Sport which revealed that Italy international now ‘wants’ a return to his parent club this month.
Another French outlet Le10Sport added in their report which read: ‘Emerson would like Lyon to agree to let him return to Chelsea. His advisers are trying to lead discussions in this direction.’
