This Chelsea defender remains a target for Barcelona
The latest report has claimed that Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta remains a target for Spanish club Barcelona.
Even at 32-year-old, Azpilicueta remains a key player at the West London club, having made 14 appearances in all competitions this season.
However, the Blues defence contract will lapse next June, but there are claims that Chelsea have offered the Spanish defender a new deal until June 2023, but he is yet to decide on whether to remain at Stamford Bridge or move elsewhere.
A report via Marca claimed that Barcelona new manager Xavi views the former Osasuna youngster as the ideal player to boost his options at right-back for the 2022-23 campaign.
The report claimed that Xavi is unconvinced by Sergino Dest and Sergi Roberto, while Dani Alves is unlikely to remain at the club as a player beyond June 2022.
Azpilicueta, since moving to Chelsea from Marseille, has made 443 appearances for Chelsea with 14 goals and 56 assists to his name.
In another report, Chelsea remain seated at the top of the EPL table after their Wednesday win vs Watford; they are one point ahead of Man City.
