They are sharp – Chelsea squad under Pochettino rated highly

Wrexham goalkeeper, Ben Foster applauded Chelsea’s current squad under  Mauricio Pochettino as the team seemed to be undergoing a new change.

The former England international who came out of retirement to help the Welsh club gain promotion back to the Football League last season made it in last night’s friendly game against the Blues in North Carolina.

Chelsea new signings Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku and Andrey Santos put up impressive form during the game as they thrashed Wrexham 5-0.

Foster in his statement stressed that the early signs from Pochettino’s squad are extremely encouraging.

“When they get the ball in the final third, wow,” said the former England goalkeeper.

“Runners down the wing, players coming inside going outside, and there’s always taking the ball on the run.

“They’re either already running or they’re picking it up and running with it so it just gets you on the back foot straight away and it’s good to see. There’s so much pace, they’re so sharp.”
