Terms AGREED: Chelsea set to sign Rennes star this summer
All things considered, the Édouard Mendy signing seems to happen, similarly as it had been forecasted for the past couple weeks, with different reports currently asserting that Chelsea are sure that we’ll have the option to get this deal over the line soon.
He would be the club’s seventh significant first-team signing this current summer’s transfer window.
The previous whirlwind of reporting was commenced by Ivisionsport, who were then joined by the likes ESPN and others.
No price was actually included, but the last are both going with a £18m base fee, plus add-ons up to £7m. The £18m fee would match Chelsea’s reported second offer.
Today negotiations on between #Chelsea and #Rennes for #Mendy. They are very close. Agreement to be reached around €20M.
The deal is almost done. ?

Rennes were evidently waiting for twice that sum, however it would seem that they may need to make due with a small amount of that.

Édouard Mendy, who’s not actually an easily recognized name and only five years back was pondering retirement, evidently accompanies the solid proposal of both Petr Čech and Christophe Lollichon.
Édouard Mendy to Chelsea would be an incredible story. Five years ago, aged 23, he was unemployed, queuing at local job centre and ready to quit football. Has shown amazing strength as well as real quality as a goalkeeper
