Southampton star likely to join Chelsea over Man City
A latest statement by talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook via Givemesport revealed Chelsea stand a better chance of signing Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia this summer than Manchester City.
Lavia, who joined Southampton at the commencement of the season has been impressive even though it is his first time playing at senior level.
A report via Football Insider revealed that when Lavia moved to Southampton from Man City, a £40m buy-back clause, was included in his contract which activates next year.
The report further claimed that Man City are monitoring the Belgian midfielder and could make a move for him if his impressive performance continues.
Should Southampton get relegated, their speculation Lavia would leave for another club including top European sides, who are equally keen on signing him.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Crook said: “The only way he goes back to City is if they say to him we’re buying you next summer. That means doing a year in the Championship, which I don’t think he would want to do, so I think Chelsea are more likely.”
