Rudiger forces move away from Chelsea, rejects new offer
Chelsea defender and Germany international Antonio Rudiger has rejected a contract offer worth £230,000 per week to stay on at Stamford Bridge.
Rudiger’s current contract with the Blues expires at the end of the season, and he is said to have decided to leave in the summer.
The German defender is unable to sign a new deal at Chelsea as the Blues are still under sanctions owing to their link with Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.
According to The Mirror, Rudiger was offered a staggering £230k per week to remain in West London, but the Germany international rejected the offer.
The report added that Chelsea were willing to pay a considerable fee to keep Rudiger on the books, but the centre-back seems to be now focused on moving to the Spanish side Real Madrid.
So far this season, Rudiger has scored five goals and created four assists in 47 matches for the Blues and is a key player for Tuchel despite his contract situation with 28 Premier League starts.
He has won the Champions League, FA Cup, Europa League and Club World Cup with the Blues and wouldn’t be available when Chelsea face West Ham United on Sunday due to a groin issue.
