Reason behind Chelsea recent woes
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has finally opened up on the main reason the Blues have been unable to sustain their good start to the season after another disappointing display against Aston Villa.
The Blues went ahead in the first half of their match against Aston Villa when Oliver Giroud scored a brilliant header off a Ben Chilwell cross but couldn’t hold up to their lead as El Ghazi scored a brilliant equaliser half way through the second half.
Chelsea tried hard to score the winning goal but were unable to breach the Villa defend as their struggle continue.
With the Blues set to face Manchester City next, there have been eyebrows amidst their fans on the credibility of their teams fighting for the title.
Speaking to the press ahead of the tie against Pep Guardiola’s team, Lampard noted that Hakim Ziyech who has been missing for the past few weeks has had an effect in their performance.
According to Frank Lampard, With Hakim Ziyech in the team, the way he was playing, he was being very effective for the team in terms of assists, goal creation, chance creation and some goals.
Lampard noted that before Hakim Ziyech was injured, the team were very fluid at the time adding that the team are going to miss players at that level when they drop out and they want him back.
Chelsea will be facing Manchester City on
Sunday but the game is in doubt given the Covid-19 outbreak in Pep Guardiola’s squad, which saw their game against Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton postponed.
