Real Madrid reach verbal agreement with Chelsea star
Spanish club Real Madrid have reached a verbal agreement with Germany International and Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger on a summer transfer.
According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Rudiger will sign a long-term deal with Real Madrid in the coming days.
Romano made this known in a tweet via his Twitter handle on Monday.
He tweeted: “Real Madrid have reached a verbal agreement with Antonio Rüdiger. Contract not signed yet – but Real Madrid are now closing on Rüdiger deal on a free: here we go soon!
“It’s gonna be a long-term deal. Final details to be discussed soon, before signing the contract.”
Rudiger’s current contract with Chelsea will expire at the end of the season.
The Blues were unable to extend his contract owing to the sanction placed on the club by the UK Government pending the time new owners take over the club.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has also confirmed Rudiger’s departure.
While Tuchel said it would be difficult to replace the German defender, he added that the club would look for a replacement.
