Real Madrid Open to Selling Star Winger if Suitable Offer Arrives

Arsenal have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Brazil international Rodrygo, with reports suggesting Real Madrid are willing to sell the winger if they receive a suitable offer.

Rodrygo joined Real Madrid from Brazilian club Santos in July 2019 for around £35 million. Since then, he has enjoyed great success with the Spanish giants, winning 12 major trophies, including two UEFA Champions League titles.

The 24-year-old played a key role last season, scoring 14 goals and registering nine assists in 51 appearances across all competitions. He also provided an assist at the Club World Cup.

However, his future in Madrid has recently come under question. Rodrygo missed four of the club’s final five La Liga matches in the 2024/25 season and was an unused substitute in the other. While he started Xabi Alonso’s first game in charge—against Al Hilal at the Club World Cup—he has only played 23 minutes in the three appearances since.

His absence from recent matches has fueled further speculation. Most notably, he was an unused substitute in Madrid’s recent Champions League last-16 win over Juventus, adding to uncertainty over his long-term role.

Arsenal view Rodrygo as a priority target for their attack and reportedly consider him their ‘dream signing’ this summer. However, Real Madrid are expected to demand a substantial fee, with reports indicating they will only entertain offers in the region of £77 million.

With the transfer window heating up, all eyes will be on whether Arsenal will make a formal approach to secure the talented winger’s signature.
