Real Madrid considering moves for Chelsea full-back
Spanish club Real Madrid are contemplating a bid for Chelsea full-back Reece James this summer.
The Los Blancos are looking for backup options on the right flank, with Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vasquez now in their 30s.
The reports in Spain revealed James is on Real Madrid’s target list.
However, the 23-year-old contract with Chelsea doesn’t end until 2028, which means Madrid will have to be ready to break the bank to convince the Premier League side to consider a sale.
Madrid hierarchy are hoping Chelsea will be forced to offload several first-team talents at the end of the season to balance the books.
However, if they are unable to get a deal for James, Real Madrid will focus on signing Portugal international Joao Cancelo as an alternative.
So far this season, James has only started 11 matches, having been affected by knee and hamstring injuries.
The wing-back recently pulled out of England’s squad for their Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine.
