Chelsea manager Graham Potter has given an update on the defender, Reece James’ injury following their 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Tuesday in the Premier League.

Recall that James was forced off the pitch during the game against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.

James had suffered a knee injury in October that saw him lose a spot in England’s squad at the recently concluded 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Before his removal from the game against Bournemouth, the defender appeared in discomfort during the match, falling to the pitch with his head in his hands and quickly signalling to the bench that he was unable to continue.

Asked for an update after Chelsea defeated Bournemouth, Potter said at his post-match press conference, “Not too much [we know at this stage].

“We are going to see in the next 24, 48 hours, but it was disappointing to lose him as quickly as we did.”

He added, “It’s the same area, so we are concerned. We will have to see in the next 24/48 hours. It’s a bit too soon, but it was in that action, a chop, and he felt something. We have to keep our fingers crossed at the moment.

“He is disappointed, of course. At the moment, we are just hoping it is not as bad, and we will keep our fingers crossed.”
