Pochettino speaks on area Chelsea need to sign a new player

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed the club would add new players to their squad before the close of the summer transfer window.

Pochettino in his statement emphasised the need for a new midfielder at Chelsea.

Recall that the Blues have witnessed the exit of some of their midfielders this summer, with the likes of Mateo Kovacic to join Manchester City, while N’Golo Kante left for Saudi Arabia club Al-Ittihad as a free agent.

Mason Mount has also moved to Manchester United in a £60million deal.

The departures of these players have called for concerns in the Blues midfield and the former Tottenham manager wants to strengthen.

“Yes I think we need [a player] there [in midfield], for sure,” Pochettino said.

“But I think it is clear. Everyone knows that we need to add some players there.”

Currently, Chelsea are said to be in the race to sign Brighton’s Moises Caicedo this summer.
