Pochettino on why Chelsea lost to Aston Villa
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has reacted to his side’s 1-0 vs Aston Villa on Sunday.
Aston Villa, who were the visitors were able to pick all three right at Stamford Bridge thanks to a second-half goal from Ollie Watkins.
Chelsea’s Malo Gusto also received a red card during the encounter.
In his post-match press conference after the game, Pochettino suggested the red card the Blues received changed the course of the game.
The Argentine explained that the missed goal-scoring chances against Unai Emery’s side and were unlucky against the visitors.
“First half, I think we deserved more. Second half, we started on top of them but after the red card, the game changed,” Pochettino said.
“The performance is good, not excellent but we are missing goals.”
He added: “I start tomorrow again to prepare for Wednesday and hope we can score Wednesday. A little bit unlucky; how many chances did we have, like Aston Villa? We block the shot and go in. That happened; we need to accept the reality but it was a little bit unlucky. With 10 men, we forced them back and created too many chances.”
