Pochettino gives Chelsea approval to sign €60m midfielder
Chelsea’s new manager Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly given the club owners a nod to go ahead with signing a new player this summer.
While the Blues are likely to witness the departure of many of their players this summer owing to the Financial Fair Play rule (FFP) they would also be welcoming a few new signings.
A report via Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed Pochettino has approved a move for Sporting CP midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
FootballTransfers exclusively revealed Chelsea’s interest in the player on 3 May – and they remain insistent on signing the player.
The Uruguay international has been linked with moves to PSG this summer, with the Ligue 1 champions having reportedly matched the player’s release clause of €60 million to trigger contract talks. Reports from Portugal even claimed the deal was done.
As of now, Ugarte is yet to decide on his future in another club.
