Pep Guardiola reveals why Manchester City couldn’t sign Harry Kane
Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola has finally revealed why the citizens couldn’t sign England international Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Harry Kane was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City this summer but both clubs were unable to struck a deal.
The 28-year-old eventually opted to stay in N17 this summer as he took to his official social media platforms to announce his plans some days ago.
With Tottenham fans happy with the decision, City fans have a lot to think about as they’ve not been able to replace Sergio Aguero who left on a free transfer this summer.
Pep Guardiola has now admitted that the Citizens did all they could to sign Harry Kane before the he agreed on staying at Tottenham.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of City’s game against Arsenal on Saturday, Guardiola stated that the club did everything.
The former Barcelona manager stated that City didn’t talk about Tottenham not even one offer, they didn’t want to negotiate and when one team doesn’t want to negotiate, nothing to say.
Guardiola noted that understandably, they didn’t want to talk, the moment they open the door, maybe it happens.
He added that if Tottenham wanted £200m City wouldn’t pay it as they don’t have it but the big master of negotiations Daniel Levy knows everything, we couldn’t do it.
The former Bayern Munich manager noted that maybe he would do the same adding that Kane is a Tottenham player and he wish him the best in the last years of his career doing well in London.
