One West Ham player that would be on Fernandez’s mind ahead of Saturday tie
West Ham manager David Moyes has claimed Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez would be thinking about the midfield battle which will ensue between him and Declan Rice when they clash in Saturday’s Premier League tie.
Moyes made this known during his pre-match press conference ahead of West Ham’s Premier League tie with Chelsea on Saturday afternoon at the London Stadium.
“He [Fernandez] might be thinking similarly about playing against Dec [Declan Rice],” Moyes said.
“Dec loves his football. We watch and we talk about all the good players and Enzo Fernandez is an excellent player. He showed it in the World Cup.
“I knew about him when he was at Benfica. I spoke to the Benfica manager about him in November, who had given him incredible praise about how good of a player he was. So I knew he was on the radar.
“Obviously, the World Cup highlighted what his capabilities were. We try to give the players the information we can about the opposition.
“The players are not daft. They will have watched the World Cup and seen recent Premier League games. But it is quite difficult with Chelsea because they’ve got so many new players in.”
