O’Hara says Chelsea signing this player was a complete disaster

Former Chelsea star Jamie O’Hara has joined the list of people who have reacted to Romelu Lakuku’s performance at Chelsea.

According to O’Hara, the Blues re-signing the Belgian striker from Inter Milan last season was a disaster.

O’Hara said Lukaku’s form since rejoining the club from Inter Milan last summer has not been impressive.

Chelsea signed Lukaku for a club-record £101.7m in the summer of 2021 from Inter, but he struggled for consistency last season and was unable to replicate the top form he was known for at San Siro.

“His performances were not really good enough. It looks like he’s lost his confidence. I think Lukaku is one of those players who need to have an arm around him by the manager to really give him that belief. Thomas Tuchel didn’t give him that.

“It’s been an absolute disaster of a signing. I thought he was going to be the final piece in the jigsaw,” O’Hara told talkSPORT.

The Belgian striker has been linked with a return to Inter Milan this summer.
