Nick Woltemade Reaches Verbal Agreement with Bayern Munich Despite Real Madrid Interest

Germany international striker Nick Woltemade has reportedly reached a full verbal agreement to join Bayern Munich, despite interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.
According to sources close to the situation, the 6ft 6in forward is keen on making the move to the Allianz Arena, with Bayern identifying him as a long-term option to support and eventually succeed Harry Kane.
Real Madrid had also expressed what has been described as “clear and resounding” interest in the 22-year-old, but Woltemade is believed to prefer staying in the Bundesliga. Madrid’s newly appointed manager Xabi Alonso is looking to add a physically imposing striker to complement the attacking talents of Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, Rodrygo, and Endrick. The profile of Woltemade—similar to that of departing loanee Joselu—made him a target for Los Blancos, but he now appears Bayern-bound.
At Bayern, manager Vincent Kompany is building a younger, more dynamic squad and sees Woltemade as a valuable addition behind Kane. With the German champions already securing Jonathan Tah and Tom Bischof earlier in the summer, the recruitment of Woltemade would further bolster their domestic talent base.
Woltemade’s decision also has wider implications. Premier League sides Chelsea and Everton were reportedly monitoring the forward’s situation closely. Both clubs are seeking to strengthen their attacking lines, and the 6ft 6in striker’s availability presented a unique option. However, with his move to Bayern Munich now expected to go through, they will need to look elsewhere.
The transfer marks another smart piece of business for Bayern as they prepare for the 2025/26 campaign.
