Mourinho linked with a return to Chelsea

AS Roma manager and Portugal international Jose Mourinho has been linked with a return to Chelsea.

The report claims Mourinho is eager to return to the EPL to join his former club amid frustration over a lack of financial backing from his current Italian club.

According to the Daily Mail, an extraordinary third spell at Chelsea would be Mourinho’s ideal scenario and his agents have let it be known that the Portuguese would be interested in any vacancy at Stamford Bridge.

However, irrespective of their current form in the Premier League this season, Chelsea have insisted they intend to stand by former Brighton boss Graham Potter.

Mourinho’s wife and children still live in London, part of the reason he preferred working in the Premier League to elsewhere.

Mourinho lift the Europa Conference League at Roma last season, and they are currently fifth in the Serie A table but lack the finances to sign players to challenge for the title.

However, Mourinho is unlikely to leave Roma during the middle of the season, which means whatever interest he has may have to wait till the end of the season.
