Mount send message to Chelsea fans after 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United
Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has sent a message to the club’s fans after they lost a third consecutive game during their weekend game against Newcastle at St. James Park.
Chelsea head into the break for Qatar 2022 with a poor result as they sit at the right spot on the table, which means that a massive improvement is needed to restore a top-four position in the Premier League table.
Mount, who made it to the England squad heading to World Cup in Qatar, took to his social media account to make an honest assessment after their loss to Newcastle United.
‘We haven’t played to the level we expect of ourselves as Chelsea,’ the 23-year-old wrote to the club’s supporters.
‘You all deserve more from us. When we’re back from the World Cup, we are getting straight back to it and pushing ourselves to a higher level.
‘We have the best fans in the country and we will make you proud this season.’
Chelsea players will return to action on 27 December with a home game against Bournemouth, before a New Year’s Day visit to Nottingham Forest and then the hosting of Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
