Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has added fresh uncertainty to his future at the club, admitting that progress on his contract renewal remains distant.

Following a standout performance in Liverpool’s 5-0 victory over West Ham at the London Stadium — where Salah scored a goal and provided two assists for Cody Gakpo and Diogo Jota — questions about his future were inevitable.

Despite being named player of the match, the forward offered no definitive updates on his ongoing contract negotiations.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Salah said, “No, we are far away from that,” when asked about the likelihood of positive contract news. “I don’t want to put something in the media and have people start saying things, but there’s nothing at the moment.”

Salah is one of three high-profile Liverpool players whose contracts expire at the end of the current campaign, alongside Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. The uncertainty surrounding their futures leaves fans and the club awaiting further developments.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has previously emphasized the importance of Salah’s contributions to the team, further underscoring the urgency of the situation.

The club’s management now faces a crucial decision to ensure stability in the squad. With contract talks dragging on, speculation continues to swirl about Salah’s next move and its impact on the team.
