Medicals done: Chelsea close to signing Barcelona attacker

Chelsea could soon welcome a new player to their squad this summer transfer window.

The recent report revealed the Blues are close to sealing a deal for a new striker for their manager Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea are said to have triggered the €6million release clause for Barcelona’s Marc Guiu.

Popular football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, on Thursday night disclosed this update on Thursday.

According to Romano, Guiu has undergone his medicals with the Blues in London.

The transfer expert also disclosed that Guiu’s release clause worth €6m has been paid and Barcelona have been informed with a formal document.

It was reported that Guiu signed as a new Chelsea player on a six-year deal valid until June 2030.

According to the reports, the Catalans had offered Guiu a deal similar to that signed by academy talents Hector Fort and Marc Casado, but the teenager prefers to continue his career in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have also been linked with moves for top-rated strikers that can create competition for Nicolas Jackson who has struggled to impress since his arrival at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are need of a striker that can score goals so as to compete for trophies next season.
