Maresca reveals England defender was ready to leave Chelsea
Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, has disclosed that defender Ben Chilwell could have exited the club in the summer transfer window.
According to Maresca, Chilwell was “ready to leave” Stamford Bridge this summer.
Recall that the Argentine who replaced Mauricio Pochettino as the Blues manager banished Chilwell from first-team training in a bid to force his exit.
However, the English defender failed to agree a move away from Chelsea and has since been reintegrated into the squad.
Chilwell is one of the Blues players who was willing to leave, but he is still at Stamford Bridge and still training with the team, Maresca confirmed.
The manager who said the defender remains a Chelsea player disclosed he has been training well.
Maresca added that after each game, he and his team are going to consider in case we are going to use him.
Meanwhile, Chilwell is unlikely to be a part of the starting squad that will face West Ham in the Premier League this weekend.
Chelsea will head to the match after they managed to defeat Bournemouth 1-0 last weekend.
They will hope to win all three points against the Hammers as they focus on finishing in the top four.
