Maresca explains why Chalobah was dropped from Chelsea squad

Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, in a recent statement has shared reason he  dropped Trevoh Chalobah from the Blues squad for the US pre-season tour.

While he acknowledged that it was a difficult decision to making, saying it is “sad to leave a player out” Maresca, however, added that he is at Chelsea to take decisions.

Maresca stated that Chalobah is surplus to the requirements at Chelsea as they already Wesley Fofana, Axel Diasi and newly signed player Tosin Adarabioyo as well as a young profile player like Josh Acheampong who is doing fantastic.

With Chalobah no longer part of the Blues plans under their new manager, he is now expected to exit Stamford Bridge on a permanent deal this summer transfer window.

The recent reports have revealed that the West London club are ready to sell Chalobah for £35million this summer.

So far three Premier League clubs including West Ham have already made contact to have Chalobah in their squad ahead of next season.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will commence their pre-season games on Thursday when they face Wrexham in their first game under Maresca as their manager.

Chelsea will hope to start another reign under a new manager with a first win.
