Manchester United legend reveals the only defender that can mark out Lukaku

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has insisted that Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk is the only man in football capable of dealing with the physicality of Romelu Lukaku.

Romelu Lukaku left Manchester United for Inter Milan in 2019 and has become one of Europe best finisher.

His excellent form in front of goal helped Inter Milan win the Serie A title last season as he now has a record of 63 goals in 96 international matches for his country.

Lukaku scored his third goal at the ongoing Euro 2020 against Finland last night, and Rio Ferdinand could hide his admiration for Belgium forward.

Rio Ferdinand, while speaking with BBC Sport, stated that there’s only one other player who can deal with his strength.

According to Ferdinand, the big thing there is the defender, but Lukaku controls the situation.

Ferdinand noted that the minute the defender touches Lukaku and feels him, then with his strength and power, he knows where he is. Lukaku then controls the whole situation.

The former United defender added that he had not seen any defender, apart from Van Dijk, physically who could deal with that move by Lukaku.
