Manager shares deep insight about Kepa’s future at Chelsea

The future of Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arizzabalaga has been under the spotlight ever since Eduardo Mendy arrived from Rennes in the summer and Frank Lampard has finally addressed it.

Kepa Arizzabalaga arrived from Atletico Bibao for a world record fee for a goalkeeper and was prolific in his first season under Maurizio Sarri keeping 14 clean sheets.

However, his second season was one he would want to forget as the Spaniard was in the news for his errors and lack of keeping a clean sheet, a move that sparked Chelsea’s move for Mendy in the summer.

Kepa has been having limited game time ever since Mendy arrived at Stamford Bridge as he has just featured once this season for Frank Lampard.

The Spaniard only appearance was in their Champions League dead rubber clash against Krasnodar and he hasn’t appeared in the top flight since the 3-3 draw with Southampton on October 17.

However, Frank Lampard refused to be drawn on his future as he praised the professionalism of the Spaniard keeper despite barely playing.

Lampard told the press that at the moment Kepa is a player at Stamford Bridge and he thinks the situation is clear as ever since Mendy came in.

He noted that when Kepa came in for the Champions League game he did well, and he’s trained really well.

“His attitude around the place has been brilliant,” Lampard said about Kepa.

With Kepa linked with moves to some clubs in Europe, Lampard insisted that he won’t be drawn on that at the moment as he remains a Chelsea player and it’s left to see how January goes.
