Man Utd join Chelsea in the race for former Arsenal striker
The report via the Sun UK has disclosed that Manchester United are planning to hijack Chelsea’s move to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona before the summer transfer window closes.
Chelsea have been linked with moves for Aubameyang and are said to be in talks with the Catalans over a potential transfer, with the Spanish club hoping to sign Marcos Alonso from the west London side in a part-exchange deal.
The report revealed that the Spanish side are looking to get a transfer fee in the region of €25m (£21m) to €28m (23m) for the 33-year-old.
Man United have now joined the race to sign Aubameyang, and are willing to meet Barcelona’s demand.
However, the major challenge for the Red Devils is how to convince him to switch to Old Trafford, a big challenge that has made them unable to sign some big names this summer.
Man Utd are playing in the Europa League and not the Champions League this summer, they also currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table after losing their first two games of the season to Brighton and Brentford.
With Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Man Utd in doubt, new manager Erik ten Hag is keen on signing a new striker.
