Liverpool in race to sign this French defender
Liverpool have continue to top the EPL table and their weekend match against Brighton even though it ended in a 1-1 draw still makes them a serious contender for the title this season.
However, the Reds will have to be worried about their players especially those at the back as we approach a very busy festive period.
Liverpool are currently without their star man at the back, Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez who are on injury and wouldn’t be back any time soon.
In the match against Brighton, the absence of the two experience defenders forced Jurgen Klopp to field a new centre-back partnership in the form of Fabinho and Nat Phillips with Joel Matip rested.
Liverpool will have to rely on the combination of Fabinho and Matip from now until the end of the season and hope they don’t sustain injuries.
To avoid this, the Reds young players at the back will likely get more playing chances in the coming weeks
While some reports have claimed that the EPL toppers don’t have plans to sign any player in the soon to commence January window, they have however been linked with moves to sign Dayot Upamecano.
Transfer Deal: Arsenal still want to sign RB Leipzig defender
The reports revealed that the £38million buyout clause for the French defender from RB Leipzig wouldn’t be active until the end of the season, when the duo of Gomez and Van Dijk are expected to be back in the team.
This makes signing of Upamecano a difficult choice for Klopp as he may not get playing playing chances when Dijk and Gomez are back.
