Lampard to give young players more game time
Following Chelsea’s latest win, Frank Lampard has revealed he would give young players in the team more game time.
The Blues interim manager mentioned the likes of Chinonso ‘Noni’ Madueke and Benoit Badiashile as young players who have earned spots in his team.
This comes as Chelsea recorded their first win under Lampard since his return to the club as an interim manager.
They defeated Bournemouth 3-1 away from Stamford Bridge as Conor Gallagher gave the Blues the lead before the Cherries equalized through Matias Vina.
Chelsea then scored twice thanks to Badiashile and Joao Felix to win themselves their first three points since Lampard took charge on an interim basis.
When asked if he would now give more game time to all the players who are 23 or younger who performed well during the game, Lampard said, “To a degree, yes. My role now is to try and give those players minutes.
“So if they’re training well, there are other players that will be pushing those players as well. Noni’s performance on Tuesday gets him in the team today even though he was not so well a couple of days ago. I think we all saw Benoit today and it’s pretty clear he has a big talent.”
