Lampard gives injury update ahead of game vs Brentford
Chelsea will return to action on Wednesday when they host Brentford at Stamford Bridge.
Ahead of the game, the Blues interim manager Frank Lampard gave an update on injured players in his squad.
The affected players are Kai Havertz, Reece James and Mason Mount.
While Havertz seems to be a short-term absence, James’ 2022/23 season appears to be over.
‘Reece James is unavailable for this game and probably for the rest of the season as well,’ Lampard said.
‘Reece had a hamstring injury that he picked up in the Madrid game, got through the game, but we scanned it in the following days and he’ll be out.
‘Kai is still struggling a bit with his knee so he hasn’t been training with us, which is obviously disappointing for us, but he should be back training at the start of the week.’
Mount is also expected to be out for the rest of the season as Lampard said:
‘Mason has been carrying this pelvic injury for a quite a while, it definitely predates myself by a while.’
He is expected to undergo surgery which will see him out of the team for four weeks.
