It is heartbreaking seeing this player play for Barcelona – Guardiola
Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola, has spoken on one of his players, Eric Garcia’s decision to play for Barcelona.
Guardiola in a statement said that it was heartbreaking to see Garcia leaving the Premier League leaders to join La liga giants Barcelona next season.
The 20-year-old started off his career with the Catalans and played through their youth team before moving to Man City in 2017.
During his stay in the Premier League, Garcia played for City’s Under-18 and Under-23 sides but didn’t make his first-team debut until December 2018.
However, Garcia, who plays as a defender turned down the offer of a new contract at City last August and will be a free agent this summer.
He was linked with moves to Arsenal in the January transfer window but somehow the deal didn’t work out as it stands Barcelona is his next destination.
Speaking on the pending departure, Guardiola, who is a big fan of the player stressed that Garcia is like a son to him
“Eric Garcia is like a son. He was a guy last season that after the lockdown was our best central defender,” he said.
According to Guardiola, the 20-year-old defender never made a mistake.
Man City remain seated at the top of the EPL table.
