Going international: Chelsea’s Hayes to leave at the end of the season
Chelsea in a statement on Saturday confirmed that their Women’s manager Emma Hayes will leave the club at the end of the season.
This comes amid reports that Hayes is poised to be appointed as the United States coach.
Hayes is rated one of the most successful managers in women’s football after leading Chelsea to six WSL titles.
She also won five FA Cups, two League Cups, the Spring Series trophy and the Community Shield with Chelsea’s women.
Amid her wins with the Blues, Hayes is now being tipped to go into international football with the United States.
Different reports in the US revealed that Hayes was in advanced negotiations with the United States Soccer Federation with her appointment set to be confirmed imminently.
As of now the US is being managed by an interim boss Twila Kilgore, who took over from Vlatko Andonovski following the Americans’ last-16 exit at the World Cup.
Chelsea in a tribute to their coach as they announced her departure wrote:
“Chelsea FC can today confirm that highly decorated Chelsea Women’s manager Emma Hayes OBE will depart the club at the end of the season to pursue a new opportunity outside of the WSL and club football.”
