Germany international gives Chelsea 10 days to hand him a new contract
Chelsea defender and Germany international Antonio Rudiger has reportedly given the Blues 10 days which is till the end of April, to hand him a new contract.
The Athletic reports that Rudiger is keen getting to know his future at Stamford Bridge once and for all.
Rudiger is one of the Blues’ key players whose contract will expire at the end of this season.
The reports revealed that top European like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are already eying moves for him in the summer transfer window.
Chelsea had previously offered him two contracts which he turned down as he demanded a wage that puts him among the club’s highest-paid players.
It is uncertain whether Chelsea will able to meet up with Rudiger’s demand as they cannot offer him or any other player new contracts at the moment, following the UK government’s decision to sanction club owner Roman Abramovich.
Rudiger’s deadline day is May 1st, and according to Athletic, any successful bid is likely to come after that day.
The German may have to extend his deadline till Chelsea comes under new management.
