French club reveals Arsenal’s top target is willing to leave this summer transfer window
Arsenal have been given a huge boast in their pursuit of Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar who the club have revealed is keen to leave this summer transfer window.
Aouar was Arsenal’s top target last season but the English club failed to agree a transfer fee with Lyon.
The Gunners wanted to sign Aouar last summer but their £32 million bid was turned down by Lyon, who wanted a fee closer to €60m (£55.5m).
12 months down the line, the Gunners are still linked with the 23-year-old with Tottenham Hotspur are also exploring the possibility of a deal.
Lyon have now changed their mind as they are eager to get Aouar off the team, a feeling that is mutual with the player.
Latest report also claimed that Lyon have lowered their asking price to just £25m.
This is coming just days after Lyon’s general manager Vincent Ponsot confirmed the midfielder wants to move clubs before the transfer window closes.
According to Ponsot, Aouar has been playing with Lyon for a while and he aspires to play elsewhere.
However, Ponsot noted that if Aouar plays for Lyon, everyone attached to the club will be happy as he still has a lot to give.
Meanwhile, Lyon’s president Jean-Michel Aulas revealed that clubs have made enquiries for Aouar but are yet to follow up their interest with a bid.
