Frank Lampard set to give young duo regular Chelsea first-team action after impressive performance
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is eager to give Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi and Billy Gilmour more chance in the first team after their impressive showing against Morecambe.
All eyes were on Frank Lampard before the start of Chelsea match against Morecambe as reports had it that he would be sacked if he ends up on the losing side.
Chelsea team were dominant from start to finish as they ended up winning 4 goals to nil and Callum Hudson-Odoi was impressive scoring one goal.
Billy Gilmour also held the midfield intact as the young Scottish midfielder played with so much determination.
Lampard who was impressed with Gilmour performance stated that the young Scottish is fit as a fiddle and ready to go.
He stated that Billy is pushing for a first-team place and has been since he made his breakthrough last season against top-level opposition.
Lampard noted that his injury came soon after his impressive performance but from those moments he knew Billy would be a very, very good player for the club, to say the least.
On Callum Hudson-Odoi, Lampard insisted that when everyone is fit Chelsea have maybe three natural wingers and he’s one of them.
The English trainer pinpointed that there’s always going to be a time when he have to make selection decisions and the way Hudson-Odoi is playing now means he’s assisting, he’s scoring goals, he’s a threat every time he plays.
Lampard added that Hudson-Odoi performance makes him really happy because that is definitely an uplift from the England international and there’s more gears he can go through.
