Former Chelsea star names striker Man Utd should have signed

Former Chelsea star, Joe Cole reacted to Manchester United’s performance this season as he pointed out an area they should have worked on.

According to Cole, Manchester United should have signed England striker Ivan Toney last summer transfer window.

Recall that the Red Devils in the recent transfer window had expressed interest in signing Toney along with Chelsea and Arsenal.

However, the three Premier League club lost the chance to sign the striker, who ended up joining Saudi Arabia side Al-Ahli from Brentford.

Cole while speaking on Paddy Power said Manchester United got gun-shy in the transfer window.

“I think Ivan Toney is a cracking player, and he is exactly what Manchester United need,” the former Blues star said.

He stressed that Toney’s personality could comfortably play for a top side like the Red Devils.

Cole added that if he were the one in charge at Old Trafford, he would have insisted on signing the England striker.

Meanwhile, Man Utd led by manager Erik ten Hag have faced a tough time this season as they are seated outside the top ten on the league table.

Their performance has ignited rumours about the Red Devils seeking a replacement for Ten Hag.
