Former Chelsea and Arsenal stars slam Man Utd interim coach

Man Utd coach Ralf Rangnick has been at the receiving end of criticisms after his side were held to a draw by Newcastle United in their last outing.

Former Arsenal and Chelsea stars Perry Groves, and Jason Cundy have also joined the list of Rangnick’s critics as they said that he has so far worse than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Manchester United manager.

Groves and Cundy believe that the Red Devils lack of chances during matches was because of how Rangnick had built the team.

Groves said that the current performance by the Red Devils appeared to resemble what things were like under Solskjaer.

“It was supposed to be 4-2-2-2, sometimes it was 4-2-4, most of the time in possession it was 2-4-4,” Groves said on the Sports Bar.

“I couldn’t see the way Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wanted the team to play, I couldn’t see the structure. And there was no structure to Manchester United there against Newcastle.

“It wasn’t a lack of effort. It was a lack of cohesion, lack of structure. They wanted to press but it was like watching Leeds play at their worst.

Cundy interjected: “It was chaos out there! At least Leeds play with more structure.”

“If that was a performance under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, then he would’ve got absolutely slaughtered,” Groves added.

“Harry Maguire isn’t going to enjoy playing that way. He’s going to be left man for man and if you’re playing against them I’d leave two up front. You’re one pass away from breaking through their midfield as there’s no protection at all. The two full-backs are pushing on.
